SUSTAINABILITY

At LOVE & HATRED, our commitment to sustainability runs deep. Since its establishment in 1983, LOVE & HATRED has worked with deep environmental awareness and a powerful intention to preserve and respect mother earth’s precious metals and gemstones.

We take great care to ensure that all pieces are master-crafted with a focus on meticulous design, ethical sourcing and manufacturing practices and alchemic intent.

At the heart of our business, we aim to design fine jewelry of deep intention and purpose, and the high value that we place upon love and integrity extends to the suppliers with which we work. We maintain strong, lasting relationships with a small selection of trusted suppliers that share our commitment to sustainable and ethical practices and whose values are aligned with our own.

“Every piece is handcrafted in my in-house studios in Australia, giving me complete control over the entire process, from sourcing and production to setting and finishing. I vet every supplier and merchant, as their energy and ethics must align for me to work with them.” – Giovanni D’Ercole

PRECIOUS METALS

With an emphasis on keeping our business as local as possible, we source our gold directly from one of our most trusted refineries in Australia that share our commitment to sustainability and responsibly-sourced materials by solely producing 100% verified, pure, refined, recycled, Australian gold.

In addition to our gold, the majority of the other materials that we use in handcrafting our pieces, from silver to white gold, are also sourced locally from an Australian refinery that deals only in recycled material.

From time to time, in order to craft pieces of the highest quality possible that align with our initial vision and remain true to our most fundamental values and brand ethos, we use a combination of new and recycled materials. In all cases of manufacturing, however, we recycle all precious metal scraps and excess from our studio’s in-house casting and finishing process as an exercise in gratitude and appreciation for the materials with which the earth has gifted us.

Combining responsibly-sourced materials, any new gold that we use across all of our pieces is verified as 100% pure Australian gold. We are guaranteed this as we use a single source that refines and manufactures solely Australian gold.
